Functional Earthenware
This work may be wheel thrown, slip-cast, 'jiggered' or 'jolleyed' using moulds developed from designed models and is usually formed using a red or white earthenware body.
For red earthenware, delicatetely coloured glazes are applied, and on the thrown ware, some of the body is left exposed to leave 'toasty' edges to glazed areas.
White earthenware work tends to accommodate more brightly coloured slips and glazes, sometimes with the addition of drawing work in the form of enamel decals.
